Bridal Beauty | Green Smoothies & A New Year Cleanse

Bridal Beauty Cleanse

This post is the first in a series of posts I will be doing on Bridal Beauty. As a bride-to-be myself, I know how important it is to not only look our best on our big day, but feel our best as well. I always try to live a healthy lifestyle but I’m kicking it up a notch these next five months. I don’t want to look back and regret not taking my health and fitness serious enough pre-wedding.

Diet and exercise not only impact your fitness level and the ability to squeeze into that dress, but also your hair, skin, smile and overall outlook – all important things when you’re getting ready to walk down that aisle. I by no means believe the size of your waist is important, but I do understand that most brides want to look and feel their best, whatever that may mean to each individual. To me, that means feeling good about my eating choices, having clear skin, healthy long hair & a little glow.

I’ve been a fan of green smoothies for a long time and have tried to incorporate them into my diet regularly. The website – Simple Green Smoothies – is my go to for green smoothie recipes and tips. Their recipes are really tasty and you don’t even feel like you’re drinking kale 🙂

I decided to embark on their 21-Day Fresh Start Cleanse at the start of the New Year – a sort of kick off to pre-wedding fitness season. After starting on January 1st, I’m now into week 2 of the plan and I’m seriously LOVING it. I feel lighter, clear headed and find that my portion sizes I need are a little less. The first week of my cleanse consisted of green smoothies, pureed veggie soups and lots of nuts, seeds and cleansing herbs. It was tough, especially nixing caffeine. I’m talking no coffee for 21 days… I didn’t think I could do it, but coming from a girl who likes 3 or more cups a day, it’s definitely doable! I’m relying on a TON of caffeine-free hot teas.

Week 2 has been great so far. New foods such as quinoa and muesli bars are incorporated into the second week. I’ll do a synopsis of the cleanse after I’m done but feel free to ask questions if you are thinking about starting it! I would recommend the Fresh Start Cleanse but any whole food based cleanse would work! It’s all about releasing toxins, giving your body time to heal and renew, and flooding your body with fresh, natural fuel.
